Dick Arledge graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1948.
In 1947, Dick Arledge was named First Team All-Ohio Quarterback on both the Associated Press and Ohio High School Football Coaches Association All-State teams. Dick played in the North-South All-Star game in Canton. He played defensive back for The Ohio State University Buckeyes. Arledge graduated from The Ohio State University School of Dentistry and served as a dental surgeon in the United States Air Force.
