Nicholas "Nick" Holmes graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1932. Nick was a three-sport star in football, basketball and track.

He played on the 1931 basketball squad that advanced to the State Championships in Columbus but lost in the first round. He was captain of the basketball team.

Nick established school and District records in the discus and pole vault.

Nick was captain of the football team. In a Sports Illustrated article, Nick was selected a Silver Anniversary All-American.

After CHS, Nick attended Williams College where he continued his athletic prowess by starring in football, basketball and track. In 1936 he entered Harvard Medical School, where he graduated in 1940. From 1942-45 he saw action as an Army Air Force Major in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he returned to Chillicothe and maintained a medical practice for many years. Nick died in 1973.
